The Chinese manufacturing war machine, coupled with the insatiable corporate greed in collaboration with the retail giants are the New War the American Government is too obtuse to acknowledge.
Our elected leaders with a few exceptions such as Ron Paul
are either too busy politicking on useless and vengeful bills, or ways to enhance wasteful spending to acknowledge the fact that we are at war with a new enemy, 1000 times more powerful than the sum total of all the global terror groups. The Chinese are literally forcing us into the new great depression. While there is no supporting evidence to substantiate claims of logistical or material collaboration of the new enemy with the documented terror groups, one has to question China's reluctance to sanction totalitarian governments such as Sudan in light of all the human rights abuse. Relations with other potential threats to the US such as N. Korea and Syria have barely raised eyebrows with our congressional leaders for the Chinese are treated as our biggest trading partners.
The Chinese economic war machine has not only weakened the US economy, (by reducing the US from the rank of the global manufacturing leader), but has reduced the US to a service oriented country, an industry which is also gradually shifting to the Far East. (Just try calling your dish or cable company).
Few in the mainstream media can challange Lou Dobbs'
authority and unwilting effort in combating this engulfing and unfortunate reality.
While I'm not totally against global trade, and healthy imports that compete with the locally manufactured products, (improves quality by enhancing choice) I believe that Congress should act to protect America from the ongoing blatant attack on the American economy and salvage whatever is left of the manufacturing industry. One should not fear establishing a company in America, due to unfair competition from mighty China.
Congress should act to level the playing field; this is the only way to save America. All foreign manufacturers and American importers should be held to the same high standards that Domestic American manufacturers are held. Every one of these big corporations that have rushed to outsource their production should be held to the same environmental, humane and safety standards as their American counterparts.
I strongly believe that in a level playing field, where all the employees are treated humanely and compensated accordingly, where all the environmental regulations are stringently enforced, and where product safety is a priority versus an excusable afterthought, then America stands unchallenged as the Global Manufacturing Leader. We all have to take a stance and support America by buying America.
We should also let our "leaders" know that they work for us and are just as dispensable as those hard working Americans who loose their jobs daily to outsourcing. How many people have to die before Congress can act to level the playing field? This is a dangerous crossroad that needs a stop sign!!
